Welcome back, Rider!
A year has passed since we have embarked on our adventure and many things have happened – both in the studio and in our private lives. Now it’s time to look back at our progress and see how far we have come.
Bigger Team => Bigger Overhead
Over the course of the year the team has roughly trippeled in size and we had to expand our organization tools & workflows significantly. When we started, we were just 4 lunatics and most planing could be done in chat or via Google docs. Since we knew each other already, it wasn’t hard to communicate.
But now we have people from all over the world working on Ember Skies, including the nasty timezone issues. So we spent a good part of this year reorganizing our workflows.
Nevertheless – we got alot sorted out and our community & team is growing nicely.
And now we are all thrilled to pour our passion into our project!
Progress made
First of all: Our dev progress is available on Patreon & Twitch and we only put lookbacks & important updates on the website. Hop on over, if you want all the sweet details, screenshots and videos! (They are free real estate)
Anyway, we are making good progress on the rider & dragon controller, as well as the general environment.
But words are just words. So we have cut up the more visual progress of this year into a short montage.
Enjoy!
Outlooking good!
A big part of 2025 was getting the team and finer concept sorted. Everyone loves the story of someone making a game alone, but the truth is: Even with all of these modern tools – making a game is still a ton of work and brainstorming. Especially if you are not planing on making an AI asset flip. And even more so, if you are doing it in your free time.
I’m very happy about all the passion that our new crew members bring to the table. And with the critical roles filled, we are looking for some nice progress in the coming months, overall 2026 and onwards.
Our next goal is to get a prototype made, so we can show our vision in a clear way. But there is still alot to do, because we really really want to get the feeling of flying and our world right.
Don’t worry though. We will surely not hold back on showing our progress 😉
Stay tuned for updates!
